55 more police for Lambeth

11.00.00pm GMT Fri 8th Feb 2008

The Metropolitan Police reckon that Lambeth needs 55 more police than it currently has.

The crisis in Lambeth has got so bad that the local police force are refusing to let police leave Lambeth even when they have new jobs in other police forces.

This petition calls for the Metropolitan Police Authority to urgently take steps to ensure Lambeth gets another 55 police - in line with Scotland Yard's own assessment of Lambeth's needs. Our area should have 983 officers at local police stations - but the Met has only 928 currently in the borough
