Lib Dem leader Ming Campbell backs the local campaign against Labour's police cuts

New Lib Dem leader Ming Campbell visited Lambeth last week to meet local campaigners and to back their calls for the restoration of a team of 40 police officers recently axed from Lambeth by the central Labour government.

To the concern of local residents, the government claims that the police are no longer needed in Lambeth. 'It's a disgrace for Labour to say these police are not needed in our area,' said Lib Dem campaigner Adeline Aina.

Ming's visit to Lambeth was one of many he has been making in recent weeks to areas where the Liberal Democrats are expected to do well in the 4th May local elections. You can watch him talking about his ambitions for the Lib Dems nationally in a broadcast on Tuesday 25 April and Friday 28 April at the following times: BBC1 18:55, BBC2 17:55 on 25 April, 18:25 on 28 April; ITV 18:25.
