Lib Dem Councillors have won an extra £194,000 for this year's Lambeth Christmas Lights display.

Lib Dem Councillors on Lambeth are celebrating after they made Lambeth Council put in a £194,000 cash boost into this year's Christmas Lights display.

This year's Christmas lighting displays will benefit from £194,000 from the Lambeth Opportunities Fund, which has been spent on new lighting stock for all 5 town centres, to replace last year's worn out and deteriorating items.

A better display of lighting will help local businesses as well as providing seasonal cheer.

Lib Dem Councillor Peter Truesdale said: "We're looking forward to the Christmas lights being switched on, along with other traditional celebrations such as the Christmas Tree in the Town Hall, and the singing of Christmas Carols".

The cash boost has been possible because Liberal Democrat Councillors have taken action to clean up the huge financial mess left by Labour when they ran the council.
