Clapham Cross toilets reopen

11.56.52pm BST (GMT +0100) Tue 14th Jun 2005

The Clapham Cross conveniences have been reopened after the completion of a £12,000 makeover. The toilets have benefited from a thorough spring-clean and upgrade, repairs to the electrical fittings, graffiti removal, re-painting and repairs to the existing toilets which have changed the entire look of the building.

Under Labour the council was forced to close public toilets across the borough because it couldn't find the money to maintain them. Although there's still more that that could be done to improve public toilet provision, the investment in improving the borough's facilities has shown a marked improvement in recent years.
