Lib Dem Cash Boost for Lambeth1.58.45pm BST (GMT +0100) Sat 18th Sep 2004 Improvements to local streets and estates are at the centre of a new £16million capital investment programme secured by our strong team of Lib Dem councillors. Funding for extra road resurfacing, litter bins, street trees and pavement repairs makes up a large part of the package. There is also extra cash for play equipment in parks, library books and Youth clubs, Adventure Playgrounds and 1 O'Clock clubs. And the fight against crime benefits too, with a new scheme to provide home safety measures for older people and for new mobile CCTV cameras. Lib Dem Councillor Anthony Bottrall said: "The investment also includes funds to extend the Orange Sack recycling scheme to local estates". Labour wanted to axe recycling scheme Labour councillors will be frustrated that the Lib Dem led council is doing more to promote recycling, as they opposed the popular "orange sack" recycling scheme when it was introduced last year. Lib Dem Cash Boost for Lambeth The following have all received extra funding: Recycling on estates £350,000 Play in parks £300,000 New trees &streetlights £750,000 Road nameplates £200,000 Pavement repair £1,000,000 Road resurfacing £1,500,000 Home security £50,000 Youth Clubs, 1 O'Clock clubs and Adventure Playgrounds £500,000 Road safety £1,750,000 New litter bins £20,000 Mobile CCTV £40,000
